A breast lift (mastopexy) raises and reshapes breasts that have lost volume and firmness due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, or ageing. No implants are required – your own tissue is repositioned and excess skin removed to restore a youthful, perky contour. Recovery
Rest with your support bra in place. Keep wounds clean and dry; avoid stretching or reaching overhead.
Bruising and swelling reduce. Most patients return to light home activities; avoid lifting and impact.
Light work typically resumes. Continue wearing your surgical bra; strenuous exercise requires surgeon approval.
Breasts settle into their lifted position. Scars soften and fade over the following 12-18 months.
Safety & Scarring
Breast lift surgery carries standard surgical risks including scarring, altered nipple sensation, asymmetry, and rare infection or haematoma. Results may be affected by future pregnancy or significant weight changes.

A breast lift reshapes and elevates the breast but does not significantly add or reduce volume. If you want to increase size at the same time, a lift combined with augmentation (augmentation-mastopexy) can be performed in the same session.
Results are long-lasting, especially when maintaining a stable weight. Natural ageing continues, and future pregnancies or significant weight changes can affect the outcome over time.
Scar placement depends on the degree of lift needed. Patterns include around the areola only (crescent), a lollipop shape (areola + vertical), or an anchor shape (areola + vertical + horizontal fold). Your surgeon will recommend the appropriate pattern.
Many patients can breastfeed after a breast lift, but it depends on the technique used and individual anatomy. Discuss breastfeeding intentions during consultation if this is a consideration.
Post-operative discomfort is mild to moderate and managed well with prescribed pain medication. Most patients describe soreness and tightness rather than sharp pain, which eases significantly within the first week.
